TREK OVERVIEW
The trek offers an enchanting journey through the pristine landscapes of the Dhauladhar Range in Himachal Pradesh, India. Situated at an altitude of approximately 2,950 meters (9,678 feet) above sea level, surrounded by towering peaks, lush green meadows, and dense forests. The Dalai Lama Trek usually begins from Palampur to Kareri village, setting the stage for an unforgettable trekking experience.
Commence your journey towards the breathtaking Kareri Lake. With all the captivating scenery along the trail, you'll make your way through dense forests. The multi-day scenic trek takes you to explore the local culture upon arrival and stay overnight in a camp in Bal Village. The trekkers get to witness the majestic beauty of Triund valley. On the way the trek offers an exciting experience of Snowline Cafe to Bhagsu Nag, covering a picturesque route. Along the way, immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the region take in the serene ambiance of Bhagsu Nag, and explore Bhagsu Nag Temple.
During your visit, immerse yourself in the rich cultural tapestry of Dharamshala by exploring the Tsuglagkhang Complex, encompassing the Dalai Lama's residence, temple, monastery, and the Tibet Museum, offering insight into Tibetan heritage and spirituality. Delight your senses by meandering through the local markets of McLeod Ganj. On the way, trekkers get to indulge in Tibetan cuisine at various restaurants and cafes.
DAY WISE ITINERARY
Day 1 - Kareri Village to Kareri
- Transfer from Palampur to kareri village.
- After breakfast, start your trek towards Kareri Lake.
- The trek will take approximately 7-8 hours, covering a distance of about 12 km.
- Enjoy the scenic beauty along the trail.
- Reach Kareri and set up camp for the night.
Day 2 - Kareri lake to Bal Village
- Continue your trek towards Bal Village.
- Trekking distance is approximately 12km, and it may take 7-8 hours.
- Explore Bal Village upon arrival and experience the local culture.
- Camp or stay in a guesthouse in Bal Village.
Day 3 - Bal Village to Triund
- Head towards Triund on this challenging trekking day.
- The trek is around 10 km and can take 8-9 hours.
- Reach Triund and enjoy the breathtaking views of the Dhauladhar Range.
- Camp overnight at Triund.
Day 4 - Triund to Snowline Cafe
- Descend from Triund to Snowline Cafe.
- The trek covers about 9km and may take 6-7 hours.
- Rest at Snowline Cafe, take in the surroundings, and have a meal.
- Camp or stay overnight at Snowline Cafe.
Day 5 - Triund to Bhagsu Nag
- Trek from Snowline Cafe to Bhagsu Nag.
- This trek is approximately 7km and can take 5-6 hours.
- Explore Bhagsu Nag, visit the Bhagsu Nag Temple, and relax by the waterfall.
- Transfer to McLeod Ganj.
- Overnight stay in Hotel
Day 6 - McLeod Ganj and Visit Dalai Lama's Residence
- Spend your day exploring McLeod Ganj.
- Visit the Tsuglagkhang Complex, which includes the Dalai Lama's residence, temple, monastery, and Tibet Museum.
- Explore the local markets, Tibetan restaurants, and cafes.
- Attend any teachings or events by the Dalai Lama if they are happening during your visit (check in advance).
Day 7 - Free Morning in McLeod Ganj

Price Includes
- Meals from day 1 lunch to day 7 breakfast are included in the package. This typically covers breakfast, lunch, and dinner during the whole trek.
- Transportation is provided from day 1 to day 7 as part of the package. This includes the transfer from Palampur to Kareri Village and the transfer to the airport on the last day.
- Accommodation is included on certain nights of the trek. It mentions camping on some nights and staying in a guesthouse or hotel on others.
Price Excludes
- Any personal expenses such as additional meals, snacks, beverages, or items of personal nature are not included. Participants may need to cover these expenses themselves.
- Travel insurance is typically not included in trek packages. It's advisable to arrange your own travel insurance to cover emergencies, health issues, or other unforeseen circumstances.
CONFIRMATION POLICY
- Within a day of a successful booking, the client gets a voucher of the confirmation through email.
- If the preferred slots are not available, an alternative schedule will be arranged according to the preference of the customer, and a new voucher of confirmation will be sent through email.
- Alternatively, before confirmation, the customer can decide to cancel their booking, and a complete refund will be issued.
CANCELLATION POLICY
- Cancellations made in between 45 days of the start date of the trip will be assessed a cancellation fee of 25% of the total tour cost.
- Cancellations made between 15-30 days of the trip’s start date will be charged 50% of the total tour cost as cancellation fees.
- If you cancel within 0-15 days of the trip’s start date, you will be charged 100% of the entire tour cost as cancellation fees.
- In the event of bad weather or government restrictions, any trips or events may be cancelled. In such a case, the operators will do all possible to give a viable alternative. However, a cash refund is not available on this item.
REFUND POLICY
If you select a refund after canceling your trek, the refund amount will be deposited into the payment account that you had used while making payment to us. It will take ten to twelve working days.
