TREK OVERVIEW
The Yulla Kanda Trek is one of Himachal Pradesh’s most spiritual and scenic journeys, leading to the world’s highest Krishna temple beside the pristine Yulla Kanda Lake at 3,895 m. Steeped in legends of the Pandavas, the trail offers a blend of mythology, devotion, and adventure. Every year, pilgrims gather here during the Janmashtami festival, making the lake a sacred celebration spot. Covering nearly 18 km of trekking distance, the route begins from Yulla village in Kinnaur and passes through forests, streams, and alpine meadows. Graded as easy–moderate, the trek is best enjoyed between May and October.









DAY WISE ITINERARY
Day 1 - Delhi → Shimla (Overnight Journey)

Begin your Yulla Kanda trek from Delhi with an early morning drive through the scenic Kinnaur Valley. In the evening, board your Volvo/Tempo Traveller around 7–8 PM and set off on an overnight journey. The road winds through Chandigarh and the Shivalik hills, eventually leading you into Himachal Pradesh. This marks the beginning of your adventure towards the Yulla Kanda trek in Himachal, an offbeat destination in Kinnaur Valley. Overnight on the bus.
Day 2 - Drive from Shimla Through Kinnaur Valley to Tapri – Scenic River & Orchards

Arrive in Shimla by morning and continue your drive deeper into Kinnaur Valley, the starting point for the Yulla Kanda trek route via Yulla village. The Sutlej River flows alongside the road while apple orchards paint the landscape with vibrant colors. As you pass Rampur and climb along mountain ridges, the beauty of Himachal slowly unfolds. By evening, reach Tapri, a small gateway town to the Yulla Kanda Lake trek. Dinner and overnight rest here will prepare you for the Himalayan adventure ahead.
Day 3 - Tapri → Yulla Village (Drive) → Yulla Base Camp (Trek)

After breakfast, drive to Yulla village, a quaint Himalayan settlement that marks the beginning of the Yulla Kanda trek distance. The trail today is short but scenic, winding through pine forests, gurgling streams, and open alpine meadows. As you trek upwards, you’ll notice the gradual shift in altitude and terrain, which explains why the Yulla Kanda trek difficulty is considered easy to moderate.

Wake up early for the highlight of the trek – the sacred Yulla Kanda Lake and the highest Krishna temple in the world. After spending time by the lake and temple, descend back to Base Camp. From there, trek down to Yulla village, drive back to Tapri, and continue your return journey via Shimla. Overnight travel back to Chandigarh/Delhi concludes this adventurous day.

HOW TO REACH
By Road: The most common way to reach Yulla Kanda is via Shimla and Tapri in Kinnaur Valley, Himachal Pradesh. Travelers usually start from Delhi, taking an overnight AC Volvo or Tempo Traveller to Shimla (~8–9 hours). From Shimla, it’s a scenic road journey (~7–8 hours) along the Sutlej River, through Rampur and apple orchards, until you reach Tapri, the gateway to Yulla village, where the trek begins.
By Air: The nearest airport is Shimla Airport (Jubbarhatti), approximately 190 km from Tapri. From the airport, hire a taxi or take a bus to reach Tapri.
By Train: The nearest major railway station is Kalka, connected to Delhi via Shatabdi Express. From Kalka, take a taxi or bus to Shimla (~4–5 hours), then continue the road journey to Tapri and Yulla village.
Tips:
- Roads in Kinnaur Valley can be narrow and winding; hiring a local driver familiar with the terrain is recommended.
- Mobile network at Yulla Kanda is limited, so plan navigation and communication in advance.
- Most trekkers prefer to start the trek from Yulla village for the shortest and scenic route to Yulla Kanda Lake and the Krishna temple.
THINGS TO CARRY
- Bought a 50-60L backpack with a rain cover to fit everything and held up well.
- Pack Waterproof trekking shoes with ankle support for a lifesaver on rough patches.
- For sub-zero temperatures at high camps, pack an insulated jacket.
- Carried one fleece, a waterproof jacket, two dry T-shirts, and two trekking pants.
- Woolen cap and gloves (Warm and waterproof). Couldn’t manage the wind without them.
- Water Bottles or Hydration Pack for a minimum 2-liter capacity.
- The headlamp helped in early mornings, and extra batteries were a smart call.
- Carry ORS, painkillers, band-aids, and Diamox.
- Toilet paper, wipes, and sanitizer are essential for staying clean at remote camps.
- Carry ID Proof and cash of ₹3000–₹5000 for permits and local expenses (no ATMs in Mudh).
CONFIRMATION POLICY
- Within a day of a successful booking, the client gets a voucher of the confirmation through email.
- If the preferred slots are not available, an alternative schedule will be arranged according to the preference of the customer, and a new voucher of confirmation will be sent through email.
- Alternatively, before confirmation, the customer can decide to cancel their booking, and a complete refund will be issued.
CANCELLATION POLICY
- Cancellations made in between 45 days of the start date of the trip will be assessed a cancellation fee of 25% of the total tour cost.
- Cancellations made between 15-30 days of the trip’s start date will be charged 50% of the total tour cost as cancellation fees.
- If you cancel within 0-15 days of the trip’s start date, you will be charged 100% of the entire tour cost as cancellation fees.
- In the event of bad weather or government restrictions, any trips or events may be cancelled. In such a case, the operators will do all possible to give a viable alternative. However, a cash refund is not available on this item.
REFUND POLICY
If you select a refund after canceling your trek, the refund amount will be deposited into the payment account that you had used while making payment to us. It will take ten to twelve working days.
